Don’t do what Daddy-don’t does

Published in Family (Volume 1 [2022]) an anthology that has been available through Amazon (the link to the listing is embedded

in the image below) this work arose as a consequence of creative self-translation of some brief thoughts originally settled in

Chinese, Latin and Old Norse.

FAMILY Vol.1: Poetry about family, from poets around the world. by [Robin Barratt]

Don’t do what Daddy-don’t does

‘Unnecessary’, ‘useless’ and ‘unused’

makes acts abusive and insulting –

undoing the target

(brightness and clarity) ...

and you.

Work, a job or business

serving or labouring for you

accomplishes bad or poor acts ...

abusing and insulting

commendable ability

is a fortress like ‘death’.

Don’t give fathers

(or uncles)

negation ...

perform the optimal

in each emerging moment.

Engagement establishes what is true –

the aim, standard and criterion

(the optimal in each emerging moment).

Giving negation,

fathers

(or uncles)

produce demands, coercion, ‘should’, ‘must’, ‘have to’ ...

and ‘no’.

Be different –

become a father

(or uncle)

producing optimal things, speech, engagement and service.

Refuse that state ‘parent’ ...

agreeably, favourably and properly

serve, manage, govern and nurture.

None defend father ‘wanting’ ...

will to serve.
