The name of ‘that one’: or, ΧΑΙΡΩ = FELIX (or GAIVS)

First published as 'The Signs of Summer' in Summer Fireflies (2022) a Wingless Dreamer anthology that has been available through

Amazon (the link to the listing is embedded in the image below) – this work arose from some creative self-translation of material

originally settled in Chinese.

The name of ‘that one’: or,

ΧΑΙΡΩ = FELIX (or GAIVS)

Emisu

recount the objective historically,

recording the name and reputation –

ancient

(like a pseudonym) –

‘Justice’ and ‘Right’, ‘Perfect’, ‘the number of the beast’,

the ‘Peaceful Martial Art’ and ‘the Truth’.

Really,

everywhere,

this character is the sign.

Historically,

that one is known

as Ebisu.

Contemporaries –

foreigners, barbarians and ancient tribes in eastern China alike –

reckoned repeatedly

that experience, excess, offense, travel, observation and clarity

(once, sporadically or repeatedly)

was the historical record.

Names and descriptions –

including those associated with repute and fame –

gave birth to, raised, educated and governed this …

families, troops, poems, the utmost and complete

and the miscellaneous and irregular.

‘What’

is tiny and insignificant.

To move, to be, to be allowed to marry, to be pregnant,

to raise children, to educate and to govern

may be reputable, famous or a sign.

History is clear –

really,

discovering the secret

is ‘Happy’ or ‘Joyous’

(synonymous with the 23rd tetragram of Tàixuánjīng [‘Ease’]) …

which could have been expressed as FELIX, BEATVS, LAETVS, FAVSTVS or SECVNDVS in Latin

and ΧΑΙΡΩ in Ancient Greek.
